Hi, I would like to put some upload .flv files that I prefer not to host on vimeo, youtube etc.

The media uploader fails with the message:

‘Sorry, this file type is not permitted for security reasons.’

As .flvs are the only non-external hosted video format that seems to be offered from the edit window is there something I am missing to get them uploaded successfully?

(Have tried both Flash and browser uploads etc.)

Hi Darryl,
Were you using the Flash button on the toolbar to upload the .flv? I will do some tests, but I’m pretty sure it has worked for me in the past. Would you be able to share the file with me somewhere so that I can try it out? Perhaps a public Dropbox link or something like that?
